Interior Design Of John Lennon’s Former Kenwood Home

Kenwood has become the stuff of legend. John Lennon, the British co-founder of The Beatles, purchased the six-bedroom property in Weybridge, Surrey, for £20,000 (approx. $26,000 USD) on July 15, 1964, and lived there with his first wife Cynthia, and his son Julian, until he sold it in December 1968, forever cementing the home’s place in history. It is reported that much of Lennon’s song writing was carried out in the attic at Kenwood. This was where Lennon reportedly wrote hit songs, such as ‘I Am The Walrus’ and ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’.

After his initial purchase, an extensive renovation program was carried out by Lennon with a lavish interior design by Kenneth Partridge; however, Lennon and Cynthia very quickly carried out further works to adapt the design to their taste. Originally built in 1913 by Love & Sons, this fantastic property has subsequently been significantly improved and thoroughly redone to modern luxury home standards in quite an elegant contemporary style throughout.
